Most of our pieces are KD, or “knock-down” style, meaning they’re thoughtfully engineered for simple at-home assembly while still delivering the solid, long-lasting quality you expect.
Whether you’re putting together a single Dara Sectional Module, or the Adele Dining Set, this guide walks you through what to expect, how long assembly takes, and a few expert tips to make the process quick and stress-free.
What Is KD Furniture?
KD (knock-down) furniture simply means the product ships unassembled so you can put it together at home. This approach reduces packaging waste, lowers shipping costs, and ensures your furniture arrives safely and efficiently.
But here's the important part: Kyndway KD pieces are designed for easy assembly, no complicated tools, no dozens of tiny screws, no frustration.
What You’ll Find in Every Kyndway Box
Every Kyndway set arrives with:
- Clearly labeled parts with protective packaging
- A hardware kit (screws, bolts, washers)
- Allen key (hex wrench) or required specialty tool
- Illustrated step-by-step instructions
All you need is a clean space and about 10–30 minutes per piece, depending on the item.
Before You Start: Quick Setup Tips
A smooth assembly begins with a few simple steps:
Lay out all parts
Place everything on a soft surface (carpet, towel, or a flattened shipping box) to avoid scratches or soiling surfaces such as the acacia frames or woven-rope details.
Read through the instructions first
Even though our steps are short and simple, a quick preview helps everything click.
Don't tighten anything fully until the end
Leaving screws slightly loose ensures perfect alignment, then you tighten for a rock-solid finish. Remember: If a screw does not want to start, don’t force it. Take the screw out, double check the correct screw is being used and try again.
Use two people for larger pieces
For items like the Dara Modular Sectional or dining tables, an extra pair of hands makes things easier.
Step-by-Step Snapshot (Most Kyndway Sets Follow This Pattern)
While every product has its own instructions, here's the general flow:
1. Attach the legs or base
Align the pre-drilled holes and insert screws. Our hardware is designed for quick fit and stability.
2. Secure crossbars or support frames
These reinforce strength and help keep the piece square.
3. Add panels or seating surfaces
Most parts simply slide into place or attach with a few screws.
4. Tighten all hardware
Once everything is aligned, go back and secure each connection snugly. Warning: Don’t go overboard here as you can damage the wood by over tightening. Tightening until snug is all that is needed, if some movement is still noticeable then try tightening the screw no more than 45° at a time.
5. Finish with cushions or accessories
Add the cushions or connectors and your piece is ready to enjoy.
